Hearing the body’s messages: CFS/Fibromyalgia (1)

“Healing may not be about so much getting better, as about letting go of everything that isn’t you – all of the expectations, all of the beliefs – and becoming who you are.” Rachel Naomi Remen

CFS /Fibromyalgia is such an erratic illness and it can become impossible to predict what your body’s response will be to a particular activity. Even if you are well enough to carry out an activity, there may be the cost of resulting fatigue and pain afterwards, which may be experienced within hours or days after the event.

In good times, it may mean that you are out of action for just a short while, such as a day or two, but in more serious times, the body may be demanding some serious rest and recuperation. There may be signs that the body is heading towards a more serious relapse when the ‘down’ times become more frequent or last for longer.

If you can recognize this, and pay attention to the body’s signals through resting and modifying the pace at which you are living, and freeing yourself from the stress you are experiencing, you may just save yourself another major blowout.

Of course bringing about changes in our lives is easier said than done, but it seems that the body will continue to give us messages until we heed the call.

  1. I am so pleased to see you writing again Marg! Paying attention to our language and syntax has such a powerful impact on our whole body healing experiences and a constant lived experience that I marvel over…….

I’m loving reading Louise Hay’s Angel Words at present. What a powerful read and provocative reminder for us all 😉
